Gift Small Viking Knife, Damascus Steel, Wood/Bone Handle with Torslunda Motif

Small Viking knife, Damascus blade and wood/bone handle with Torslunda motif

With its razor-sharp blade made of 256-layer Damascus steel* and its beautiful handle made of wood, bone, and brass with an eye-catching factor, this handmade Viking knife is a uniquely decorative multipurpose knife for everyday use.

The central bone handle is decorated on both sides with motifs based on a bronze die or mold found in Torslunda (öland, Sweden). The handle ends with a brass cap facing the blade, and at the other end, the brass handle cap has a practical eyelet (for attaching a carrying strap or for easily removing the knife from its sheath).

The beautiful tanned leather sheath with richly decorated brass fittings is equipped with a carrying loop. This means the small Viking utility knife can be comfortably worn on a belt.

*The term Damascus steel , Damascus steel , or simply Damascus refers to a composite steel made from two or more different types of steel. The name derives from the Syrian city of Damascus, which is considered an ancient stronghold and the origin of Damascus steel production. Typically, a hard, high-carbon steel and a soft, low-carbon steel are joined by repeated forging welding and folding. The high-carbon steel provides greater hardness, better hardenability, and longer edge retention, while the softer steel gives the blade greater elasticity and increased resistance to breaking. With this technology, which developed in a time of poor and changing steel qualities, the positive properties of different steels can be combined. Due to the different colors with different carbon contents, stunning patterns of alternating layers are created, such as the so-called twist Damascus or rose Damascus . Because of these patterns, Damascus swords from the Middle Ages were said to have an inherent magic.

Details:

- Blade material: Damascus steel (256 layers, 4340 and 1070 steel)

- Handle material: wood, animal bone and brass

- Total length: approx. 16.5cm

- Blade length: approx. 6.5 cm

- Weight: approx. 50 g (approx. 110 g with case)

- Leather and brass case with carrying ring

The above specifications may vary slightly from copy to copy.

The steel used here is not stainless and may show slight signs of corrosion. We recommend regular maintenance of the blade, for example with Ballistol, a universal oil ideal for preserving steel products.

Important information:

- Although the knife is fully functional, the edge has only been sharpened. If necessary, it would need to be sharpened to improve its sharpness.

- Since the knife is entirely handmade, the decorations may vary slightly from one piece to another. Please also note that bones are a natural product, and variations in color and/or grain are quite common. Therefore, no two handles of this Viking knife are alike, and the images above are for illustrative purposes only.
