Most of the new Nightshade™ Superlight knives are detailed replicas of popular existing Cold Steel blades; some are completely new creations.

The blades are made from Griv-Ex™, the latest in fiberglass-reinforced plastic. Griv-Ex™ is even tougher than Zy-Ex™, the super-hard material used in previous Cold Steel models. Each blade is also UV and heat stabilized, making it weather resistant.

These knives are characterized, among other things, by their unique, deeply grooved handles. The handle tangs are directly overmolded with Kray-Ex™. The use of Kray-Ex™ in knife handle design is an innovation developed by Cold Steel in the early 1980s. This material provides a premium surface that is easy to bond and impervious to cold or moisture. It will never rust, warp, crack, or chip, even under the harshest conditions.
