The medieval man at arms was a brave and loyal fighter full of martial heroism who mastered a variety of weapons with great skill. He was a veteran of countless battles, often going first into action and, although not a knight, he fought and trained alongside them as a brother in arms. In honor of these tough and dedicated wandering soldiers, Cold Steel® has created the Man at Arms collection of weapons. Compared to Cold Steels® premium versions, these combat-ready weapons lack the usual shiny blades and silver-polished steel elements, but the MAA series products come close to matching the other products in quality and performance. The fully-honed, blued blades are characterized by their unmistakable metallic look, which harmonizes perfectly with the black handles. And when properly oiled, they reveal their inherent, radiant beauty. The Man at Arms collection offers a selection of some of Cold Steel®’s finest blades, but at a significantly lower price. If you've always wanted to own a Cold Steel® blade but have never been able to afford it, then this collection is made for you.



The new Maa Knife from Cold Steel®, developed by Luke Lafontaine and Dave Baker, is a one-handed sword that you simply have to feel in your hand to appreciate its true worth. This modern interpretation of the German long knife of yesteryear is perfectly balanced and a joy to use. It is slimmer and lighter than many other models in the Cold Steel® range and can be handled almost like a giant bowie knife! Its clip-point blade is fully sharpened and ends with a robust, raised tip with an unsharpened back edge. The stylish and functional cross guard, knuckle guard and distinctive shell-shaped claw are all blued. This means that they visually match the blade and bring out the rich brown of the handle scales made from Malaysian sal wood.



The scope of delivery includes a black leather sheath with blackened details. This beautiful addition to the man at arms collection is already very popular with the cold steel® team and will also look great in your collection!



1090 carbon steel

1090 carbon steel is an excellent choice for larger fixed blades. It sharpens easily and holds that edge, but remains tough enough to withstand the most brutal stress tests. In short: a good all-purpose carbon steel that remains very durable even with heavy use.
