The medieval man at arms was a brave and loyal fighter full of martial heroism who mastered a variety of weapons with great skill. He was a veteran of countless battles, often entering the action first and, although not a knight, fighting and training alongside them as a brother-in-arms. In honor of these tough and dedicated wandering soldiers, Cold Steel® has created the Man at Arms weapons collection. Compared to Cold Steel®'s premium versions, these combat-ready weapons lack the usual shiny blades and silver-polished steel elements, but the MAA series products come close to matching the others in quality and performance. The fully sharpened, blued blades are characterized by their unmistakable metallic appearance, which harmonizes perfectly with the black handles. And when properly oiled, they reveal their inherent, radiant beauty. The Man at Arms collection offers a selection of some of Cold Steel®'s finest blades, but at a significantly lower price. The new Maa Knife from Cold Steel®, developed by Luke Lafontaine and Dave Baker, is a one-handed sword you simply have to feel in your hand to appreciate its true worth. This modern interpretation of the German long knife of yesteryear is perfectly balanced and a pleasure to use. It's thinner and lighter than many other models in the Cold Steel® range and can be handled almost like a giant bowie knife! Its clip-point blade is fully sharpened and ends in a robust, raised point with an unsharpened rear edge. The elegant and functional crossguard, knuckle guard, and distinctive shell-shaped claw are blued. This means they visually match the blade and highlight the rich brown of the handle scales, made from Malaysian sal wood.

The scope of delivery includes a black leather sheath with blued details. This beautiful addition to the Man at Arms collection is already very popular with the Cold Steel® team and will also look great in yours!

1090 carbon steel

1090 carbon steel is an excellent choice for larger fixed blades. It sharpens easily and holds that edge, yet is still tough enough to withstand the most brutal stress tests. In short: a good all-purpose carbon steel that remains very durable even with heavy use.
