Treat yourself to a Swedish Forest Fixed Blade Knife, Oak + Firesteel

Fixed blade Swedish Forest knife with oak handle and matching refractory steel, Casström

This cool knife is a multi-purpose knife for hunting and for classic bushcraft tasks or general outdoor use designed by nature. The blade is approximately 10 cm long and is made of approximately 4 mm thick O2 tool steel (Böhler K720), a carbon steel that has been heat treated and hardened to a Rockwell hardness of 58-60 HRC. This razor-sharp blade features a Scandinavian grind and a satin finish. The combination of steel and grinding results in a very stable knife, yet one that has a high level of sharpenability and can be easily re-sharpened.

The handle is made of oak wood. The wood has been treated with a traditional Scandinavian varnish based on linseed oil. Black coatings were installed between the handle scales and the steel to increase the life of the knife.

The knife is delivered with a durable, welded sheath made of 3mm thick vegetable-tanned cowhide in cognac brown. The sheath features an extra-wide belt loop, a drainage hole, an eyelet for attaching a lanyard, and, on this particular model, a bracer holder that houses a bracer with a visually coordinated handle.

Steel information: O2 steel is an extremely robust, oil-quenched, high-carbon tool steel. This steel is designed for strength and edge retention. Due to its chemical composition, it can be heat-treated at high temperatures without losing its ductility and toughness. The result is a blade that has a high level of edge retention even under high stress while remaining chip-free and crack-resistant for longer. This steel also has a very fine structure and can therefore be easily sharpened to a razor-sharp edge.

Please note: If the blade is left or stored damp or wet it will tarnish due to its low chromium content. To prevent rust formation it should always be wiped dry immediately after use and if stored for a longer period of time and not in use it should be treated with a suitable protective oil or wax.
