Treat yourself to the Swedish Forest Fixed Knife, Oak + Firesteel

Swedish Forest fixed knife with oak handle and matching refractory steel, Casström

This ingenious knife is a multipurpose knife for hunting, classic bushcraft, or general outdoor tasks, designed by nature. The blade is approximately 10 cm long and made of approximately 4 mm thick O2 tool steel (Böhler K720), a heat-treated carbon steel hardened to a Rockwell hardness of 58-60 HRC. This razor-sharp blade features a Scandinavian grind and a satin finish. The combination of steel and grinding results in a very stable knife, yet one that is highly sharpenable and easily resharpenable.

The handle is made of oak. The wood has been treated with a traditional Scandinavian linseed oil-based varnish. Black coatings have been applied between the handle scales and the steel to extend the knife's lifespan.

The knife comes with a durable, welded sheath made of 3 mm thick vegetable-tanned cowhide in cognac brown. The sheath features an extra-wide belt loop, a drainage hole, a lanyard loop, and, on this particular model, a bracer holder that houses a bracer with a visually coordinated handle.

Steel Facts: O2 steel is an extremely tough, oil-tempered tool steel with a high carbon content. This steel is designed for strength and edge retention. Thanks to its chemical composition, it can be heat-treated at high temperatures without losing its ductility and toughness. The result is a blade that has a high level of edge retention even under high stress and at the same time remains chip-free and crack-resistant for longer. This steel also has a very fine structure and can therefore be easily sharpened to a razor edge.

Please note: If the blade is left or stored damp or wet, it will tarnish due to its low chromium content. To prevent rust from forming, it should always be wiped dry with a cloth immediately after use. If stored for a longer period and not in use, it should be treated with a suitable protective oil or wax.
