The admired cold steel®, the beautiful, timeless look and the simple, functional design of the so-called U.S. Rifleman's Knife. This rare knife was only produced in strictly limited quantities and was the first knife manufactured by the U.S. Army in 1849. The Army was officially commissioned and acquired.

The model featured here is inspired by a historic piece from the private collection of Cold Steel® President Lynn C. Thompson. While it's not an exact replica, Cold Steel incorporated many of the design's subtleties when creating their version, allowing the original to become a historic classic!

Its impressively sturdy, spear-pointed blade is rigid enough to withstand much larger edged weapons. This makes it an ideal accessory for a saber or machete. Plus, with its majestic, approximately 30 cm long blade and sturdy guard, it can definitely function as a weapon in its own right! It quickly becomes clear why the US Army chose it as a secondary weapon for its riflemen !

Cold Steels® 1849 Rifleman's Knife is hand-forged from 1085 carbon steel and features a solid brass forend. The beautiful handle scales, which fully cover the sturdy tang, are made of Malaysian sal wood. The scope of delivery includes a high-quality, hand-stitched leather sheath with a polished brass lip plate and cover, and an integrated belt loop.
