Haubergeon means that it is a half to short-sleeved shirt that is a chainmail shirt that reaches just to the thigh.

The RM chain mail is made of rings with a diameter of only 6 mm. According to the original templates, it consists of a row of riveted rings (round rivet heads) and a row of perforated rings. Due to the extremely small diameter of the rings, these chain mail could then and now be made of steel with a material thickness of only 1 mm without losing their strength. This results in a weight reduction of about 30 - 35 %.
we abbreviate this type of braid rm (english = roman maille ) because it was already very popular among the celts and romans (hamata). this ringed armour mesh was in use throughout the late middle ages.
