Gift of Spring Steel Chain Link, Internal Diameter 8 mm, Untreated
Chainmail made of spring steel, 8 mm, untreated
- Fully suitable for combat use -
A hauberk is a long-sleeved chainmail shirt, approximately knee-length. Ring mail of this type was already used by the Celts and Romans and was used in Europe until the 14th century, until it was replaced by plate armor in the late Middle Ages. Chain mail typically covered almost the entire body. This historically authentic cut was often extended with front or side slits to give the wearer more legroom. This means that these long chainmail shirts can be worn comfortably, even by horsemen.
Our dimensions generally don't have slots, so the customer can place them individually if necessary. They also have tapered sleeves that narrow around a ring every 5 cm.
The chain mesh, by the way: This unriveted chainring mesh is made of high-quality spring steel. Due to its good price-performance ratio, it's ideal for beginners who still value good protection and solid quality. The braid is 4-in-1. We call this type of braid "btw" ( butted tensile wire ). The rings are untreated, so they can rust, but they give the braid an authentic look.
Our ulfberth chainmail is generally available in three standard sizes (M, L, and XL). The dimensions of individual sizes are measured fully stretched.
