The design of this approximately 180 cm long and 3 cm wide sling is based on an original piece found on a 3-band Springfield rifle musket from the American Civil War (1861-1865). Handcrafted from sturdy genuine leather, the rifle sling features multiple pre-drilled holes for customization, as well as a brass hook that attaches securely with two copper rivets and heavy duty stitching. Like the original, it bears the inscription Watervliet Arsenal .

This Civil War rifle sling also fits the 1853 Enfield and many other rifles of the 1870's and early 1880's.
