Stylistically, Riccardo Prencipe blends neofolk with neoclassical, some medieval sounds, and atmospheric background music. When singing, Prencipe uses various female voices. This fits with the melodies and embellishes the compositions with a more sensual touch. Sometimes it reminds you of Clannad or Loreena McKennitt, although the folk influences of Corde Oblique are less Celtic and more Romanesque in origin, and the pieces lack a pop feel. The lyrics are alternately in Italian or English.
