“We must fight!” your officer shouts for all to hear. You adjust your RFB breastplate, double-checking the buckles as you listen to him continue. “For our homes and our families, we will fight until we can fight no more!” With a resounding cheer, your fellow soldiers prepare for the charge. You draw back your weapon, anxious and scared at the same time.
The battle has begun.
DETAILS
The Epic Armory Ready for Battle Breastplate is a handcrafted breastplate designed to protect the front of the torso and abdomen. The plate rests on the hips and has a small ridge (or sword spinner) that deflects blows away from the weak point where the torso and leg armor meet. Sculpted to fit the body and add structural strength to the steel, this simple piece of armor is fully usable with other Epic Armory metal products.
Secure the RFB cuirass by tightening the 4cm wide leather straps on the back, keeping the cuirass in place over your gambeson. Made from 1mm thick polished mild steel and premium leather straps and fittings, this piece of armor is designed to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with the usual care of leather and metal armor.

Maintenance
Epic Armory metalwork products should still be treated with oil and stored in a dry place. All of our metal armor contains leather parts that require regular maintenance using leather care products to prevent the leather from drying out.
Cleaning
If your armor gets wet, it is important to dry it completely as soon as possible.
After handling, use, or after six months of storage or display, all metal should be wiped clean with a clean cloth. Lightly oil the cleaned surface with a quality machine or mineral oil. Alternatively, you can apply a coat of wax to the entire surface of the exposed metal. Let the wax dry for a couple of hours, then lightly buff it with a soft cloth.
Prevention and elimination of rust
Store your armor in a dry place and check it every two months for signs of rust. If you find any, remove it by gently rubbing the affected area with a mildly abrasive pad moistened with paste wax, oil, or water-displacing fluid.
Leather belts and accessories
Clean by removing dirt with a stiff brush, then gently scrub with leather soap and a clean, damp cloth until the leather appears clean. Remove the soap with a separate damp cloth to clean any soap residue, and then use a dry cloth to wipe away any remaining water from the leather.
You should always condition leather after cleaning it, as the soap will have removed some of its natural oils. Treat the leather with mink oil, olive oil, or beeswax using a clean cloth, gently rubbing a small amount of oil or wax into the leather in circles. Allow the leather to soak in the oil before wiping it with a final clean cloth to remove excess residue.
