The Cold Steel sword is inspired by classic Spanish pocket knives, but is extremely modern in design and materials.

The Espada series is the result of a collaboration between knifemaker Andrew Demko and Lynn C. Thompson. This collection is the perfect fusion of Demko's ingenious technical talent and Thompson's extensive knowledge of edged weapons and tools. Despite their impressive size, these enormous and efficient folding knives are surprisingly light to carry. They are cleverly designed to fit comfortably in your pocket, and you'll quickly forget you're carrying such a large and impressive sword. Thanks to Demko's patented thumb disk, the Espada can be opened directly at the pocket hem when removed from the pocket, making it ready for use in no time.

The beautiful clip-point blade of the Espada XL is made of high-quality AUS 10A steel. To protect against the sharp blade, each Espada is equipped with Cold Steel's patented Tri-AD® locking mechanism. This lock has proven to be surprisingly shock-resistant and robust. In Cold Steel's famous toughness and load tests, the XL Espada® easily withstood not only a suspended weight of 272 kg (600 lbs.), but also a sprung engine block.
