In Cooking Like the Vikings, the author brings together a variety of recipes from Viking cuisine. In this way, he revives the cuisine of the High Middle Ages, which can largely only be reconstructed from food remains, for today's kitchen. The book is aimed at anyone who is passionate about cooking and wants to try something new, but also at reenactors who want to present authentic cuisine. The book is supplemented by an extensive list of foods that were also available to the Vikings, and this list also makes clear the historical dimension of each recipe. All recipes can be cooked. These also include rather unusual preparations, but which make the living conditions of the Vikings understandable.

Author rannveig moroldsdotter writes in the foreword to her cookbook:

As far as I know, there is no such collection of recipes from early medieval cuisine. But it is much more. It is a cookbook for young and old and for everyone who likes to cook and wants to try new things and experiment in the kitchen. It is a collection of authentic recipes, some of which have been passed down from generation to generation and some of which have been created through experimental archaeology. I have added a list to everything, which lists the foods that appear in the recipes individually and briefly describes their origin.
