Give away Gunstock War Club, Battle Club
Gunstock war club, battle club
Cold Steel® proudly presents the modern interpretation of a legendary, culturally significant and quintessentially American instrument of war: the gunstock war club, a battle club shaped like a rifle butt.
As early as the 16th century, Indians recognized the devastating consequences of using a rifle butt as a weapon of offense and wasted no time in designing their own war clubs using this basic shape. These clubs, made from straight-grained hardwoods such as hornbeam, maple, ash, hickory, or oak, could strike with immense force and proved extremely effective, particularly when supplemented with a short, pointed spine or even knife blade.< br>
In fact, the rifle stock club became so popular that it reached the Pacific coast and lasted well into the 1880s. Today it remains an iconic ceremonial object.
Cold Steels® version of this fascinating instrument was designed by cutler Rich McDonald and has all the special features of his historic models, such as the central ridge, sharp spine and classic handle shape.
Instead of traditional hardwoods, Cold Steel® opted for impact-resistant injection-molded polypropylene. This material is extremely impact-resistant and nearly indestructible, making it ideal for the production of impact weapons, and it is also extremely weather-resistant – unlike wood, it will not rot, crack, splinter or warp.
For American frontier reenactors, the war club features a very realistic wood grain and, when painted, its surface resembles wood.
