Gift Final Clip for Roman Belt, Tekija Design, Tinned Brass
Roman end bracket, tinned brass strap adjustment, Tekija design
This Roman belt-end is based on finds from the Flavian Period (second half of the 1st century AD). The original artifacts found near Tekija/Tekije in Serbia (part of the Roman province of Pannonia in ancient Rome) belonged to the leather apron of the cingulum or balteus of a Roman legionary. These aprons consisted of several flat strips of leather (called pteryges or pteruges ) hanging from the belt and decorated with continuous rows of metal fittings. Each strip ended with metal charms.
This authentic replica of a decorative Roman belt fitting is made of 2 mm thick brass and tin-plated. The strap end consists of an amphora-shaped pendant and a rectangular clip-like closure with rivet holes. These end clips are ideal for constructing your own Roman belts with striped aprons and are also ideal as a replacement for existing legionary belts, such as our Roman Balteus based on the Tekije find (item no. 1616672700). Delivery does not include mounting hardware.
An ideal accessory for Roman recreation.
