Black leather belt with silver buckle

This replica of a Germanic belt is provided with a replica of an original belt buckle found in a 5th century Germanic grave near Balingen (Baden-Württemberg) or 6th century AD.

The belt is made of black cowhide, approximately 4 cm wide and 4 mm thick. It is available in two different lengths, approximately 165 cm or 180 cm long, so that it can be worn knotted, as was common in the early Middle Ages. The holes in the belt for the buckle pin are located at a distance of approximately 92 to approximately 107 cm from the buckle. However, additional holes can easily be punched with pliers to increase or decrease the circumference.

The Alemannic belt buckle is made of zamak using the die-casting process. Zamak is an alloy with the main component being zinc and with smaller proportions of aluminium , ma and copper.
