An authentic replica of a late Roman belt ( cingulum ) of a centurion, the officer of one hundred Roman legions.
The belt is made of approximately 3 mm thick red cowhide and is adorned with decorative spindle-shaped brass fittings and a massive multi-piece belt buckle. Also attached to the belt are two brass rings with holders on which a dagger ( pugio ), a sword ( gladius or spatha ) or a belt can be attached. A purse can be worn.
