The scimitar is a sabre of Near Eastern origin. From about 700 AD, tribes of Muslim origin increasingly penetrated the Mediterranean region. With its deeply curved blade, this beautiful piece revives the battles between these Easterners, known as Saracens, and the European Crusaders. The wooden handle and the falcon-head-shaped pommel are often based on the original. This beautiful sabre is an almost indispensable accessory for lovers of oriental dance.
