A doublet, also known as a gambeson, pourpoint, or aketon, is almost indispensable for free combat and exhibition. The quilted doublet was worn under plate armor in the late Middle Ages and is characterized by its short, close-fitting cut. It increased the comfort of the knight's armor and was also able to absorb enemy blows, thus reducing the risk of injury.

This Ulfberth armor doublet is made of three layers of fabric: an outer layer of cotton fabric (canvas), a quilted layer of polyester, and an inner cotton lining. The various quilting secures the padding and increases comfort. The doublet is closed with nests. Additionally, ribbons with embroidered eyes are attached to the lap. And legwarmers or pieces of plate can be attached to the sleeves. The special cut of the extended armhole takes some getting used to at first, but it is typical of the late 14th century. The high collar also has a special quality. It shortens and greatly increases the comfort of wearing the armor pieces around the neck.

How to find the right size:
To determine your dress size based on your body measurements, measure horizontally around the widest point. For blouses, use your chest circumference as a guide. If you're between sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size. The cut includes comfort allowances.
