About Helge Pahl



Helge Pahl is a beer enthusiast, self-taught brewer, beer sommelier and co-founder of the Wacken brewery. Since 2019, he has been writing monthly columns about beer under the motto “freibier” for the libertarian magazine “eigendfrei” – hymns that are combined in this book.



With a distinctly humorous tone, he raves about the various sensory impressions that can be experienced when drinking beer. He explains its raw materials, production methods, different styles of beer and facets of its never-ending history.



All this is done through the lens of an unconditional free spirit and in close relation to the social grievances that are often created by the enemies of freedom. At the same time, the reader receives a good sip of economic knowledge, so to speak, like a free beer.
