The Augsburg Early Music Ensemble was founded in 1977 and today, after years of intensive musicological and musical work, is one of the most famous musical groups of the Middle Ages.
Numerous concerts throughout Europe and at international early music festivals, as well as records and radio recordings justify this reputation. On this CD, the four musicians of the Augsburg Early Music Ensemble dedicate themselves to the numerous medieval Marian lamentations: a mother's lament over her martyred son. These Marian lamentations were heard - often integrated into one of the great passion plays - during Holy Week.
