Delight in Wakizashi Hunter
Hunter Wakizashi
The hunter wakizashi features a shinogi zukuri style l6/bainite blade and excellent koshirae , making it a desirable and extremely functional piece.
The muted green silk ito and striped green saya complement the blackened iron tsuba with its gold details, creating a hunting, bird-of-prey feel.
Bainite is a carbon steel structure that combines high strength with excellent flexibility and impact resistance. Bainite has been known for several years as an excellent component for katana blade production, but until now, it has only been used by top-level master blacksmiths to produce katana blades with bainite bodies and extremely hard martensite edges. The process of yakiba (yakiba) is a difficult one that requires a sophisticated heat treatment procedure.
Hanwei has now mastered this difficult process and uses I-6 tool steel (a very strong, low-alloy carbon steel) as the basis for the production of this katana. The blades are forged as usual and then carefully heat-treated to achieve optimal bainite and martensite formation. Finally, they are polished.
You can complete your collection with the matching hunter katana (item number sh2471).
