Hunter katana

The Hunter Katana features a shinogi zukuri style l6/bainite blade and excellent koshirae , making it a desirable and extremely functional piece.

The dull green silk ito and striped green saya complement the blackened iron tsuba with its gold detailing, creating an atmosphere of hunting and bird of prey displays.

Bainite is a carbon steel structure that combines high strength with excellent flexibility and impact resistance. Bainite has been known for several years as an excellent component for the production of katana blades, but so far it is only used by top-level master swordsmiths for the production of katana blades with bainite body and extremely hard martensite edge. (yakiba) is difficult, it is a very difficult process that requires a sophisticated heat treatment procedure.

Hanwei has now mastered this difficult process and uses L-6 tool steel (a very robust, low-alloy carbon steel product) as the basis for the production of this katana sword. The blades are forged as usual and then carefully heat-treated to achieve the optimal formation of bainite and martensite. Finally, they are polished.
