Get RM Chain Bushings, Pair, Riveted/Drilled, ID 6mm

RM chain sleeves, pair, riveted/drilled, 6 mm ID

- Very authentic and totally suitable for exhibition fights -

In the High and especially the Late Middle Ages, chain mail was increasingly replaced by more restrained plate armor. Ring mail was only partially used in areas that were difficult to protect with rigid steel plates and where greater mobility was required. For example, chain mail sleeves were sewn onto a gambeson or doublet. They offered the protection and mobility of flexible chain mail. The torso, on the other hand, was protected with a cuirass.

This reconstruction of medieval chainmail sleeves by Ulfberth is largely based on historical models. They cover not only the arm, but also the adjacent shoulder, chest, and back areas. These are sleeves that are already closed.

The RM chain mail consists of rings with a diameter of just 6 mm. According to the original templates, it consists of a row of riveted rings (round rivet heads) and a row of perforated rings. Due to the extremely small diameter of the rings, these chain mails could be made then and now from steel with a material thickness of just 1 mm without losing their strength. This results in a weight reduction of approximately 30–35%. We abbreviate this type of braid RM ( Roman mail ) because it was already used by manufacturers. The Celts and Romans (Hamata) were very popular. This ring armor braid was in use until the late Middle Ages.

Available in three sizes (m, l and xl).

The dimensions of the individual sizes are measured fully stretched.
