Get Viking Helmet With Goggles, Spangenhelm With Fountain

Viking helmet with goggles, spangenhelm with bridge, 1.2 mm steel

This Viking Age helmet with goggles is made of 1.2 mm steel. It consists of a round, blackened helmet bell, a headband, two crossing bands/strips or clasps (a band on the crown and a band running from ear to ear), and goggles with a nose guard. The individual parts of the helmet are connected to each other by steel rivets, and the spaces between the steel bands are filled with I-shaped brass plates riveted to the bell with brass rivets. The band fittings and the face and eye protection are decorated with a Celtic-style knotwork or braid pattern.

The interior is blackened and features an adjustable, riveted leather insert. The chin strap, made of 2 mm thick black leather, is fitted with a steel buckle.

To protect the neck, shoulders, and lower face, the helmet has an attached chain guard that extends to the shoulders. The chain mesh is made of unriveted steel rings with an inner diameter of approximately 1.5 cm. The lower edge of the bell and glasses is fitted with riveted eyelets through which a sturdy iron wire is threaded. The fountain is attached to it.

In the Early Middle Ages in Europe, the spangenhelm was the predominant helmet type. However, the helmet offered here is not an authentic reproduction of a historical original, but rather a loose interpretation of the nasal helmets, clasp/band helmets, and Germanic spectacle helmets of the Early Middle Ages, the Vendel Period, and the Viking Age.

This beautiful wearable fantasy helmet, featuring a variety of inspirations (Scandinavian, Anglo-Saxon, Norman, etc.), is an ideal accessory for LARP, fantasy, costume, theater, or TV/film, and will complete your transformation into a proud Norse warrior. Of course, it's also an excellent decorative addition to any helmet collector's treasure trove.
