In the early Middle Ages in Europe, the spangenhelm or bandhelm was the predominant type of helmet. The Germanic nasal helmets of the early Middle Ages, the spangen helmets and the spectacle helmets of the Vendel Age (ca. 550 - 800 AD) and the Viking Age served as inspiration for the helmet offered here.



The design of this Viking helmet with goggles shows its close relationship to the comb helmets of the Vendel period. It is made of 1.2 mm steel and consists of a round helmet bell, a headband, two cross bands/strips or clasps (a crown-like band and a band running from ear to ear) and a goggle with nose guard. Protection. All individual helmet parts are connected to each other by steel rivets. The interior is blackened for better protection against corrosion and has an adjustable insert made of black leather, which is fixed to the rim of the helmet bell with sturdy rivets.

To protect the neck, throat and lower face, the Viking Age helmet has an attached chainmail helmet that reaches down to the shoulders. The 4-in-1 chainmail consists of 1.6 mm thick, unriveted steel rings with an inner diameter of approx. The fountain is attached directly to the bottom of the bell and glasses.



This beautiful wearable helmet is perfect to complete the armour of a proud Norse warrior from the Vendel or Viking era. Not only is it an ideal prop for reenactment, LARP, stage, TV/film or costume, but of course it is also an excellent collectible or decorative item for any helmet collector's treasure trove.
