Republican Montefortino helmet, brass

The Montefortino helmet, named after the place where it was found near present-day Fermo (Italy), is the type of helmet worn by the Roman legions and the most frequently documented. It was used at various stages of development from the Punic Wars (ca. 260 BC) until the time of Augustus Caesar (63 BC – 14 AD).

Includes padded cotton inner cap.
