Treat yourself to a German Drill Helmet, Circa 1500, 1.6mm Steel

German helmet piercing, circa 1500, 1.6mm steel

This helmet is a faithful replica of a southern German helmet from the early 16th century.

The form of the piercing helmet, also called toad-head helmet , was developed in the early 15th century from the bucket helmet or pot helmet. It was only used in connection with the so-called gestech or piercing gear used, making it purely a tournament helmet.

Our helmet consists of a slotted crown plate, a pointed front helmet wall like a ship's bow and a rear helmet wall with a stepped, slotted back of the head. The individual helmet parts are connected to each other by means of original decorative brass rivets. The side openings in the ear area not only make it easier for the wearer to hear, but also to breathe. The helmet has thick fabric padding under the crown plate. The helmet can be attached to a harness using the holes provided and the strap at the back.

A very beautiful and rare reproduction of the German art of plate making.

Details:

- Material: approx. 1.6 mm steel, brass rivet, fabric inlay
- Suitable for a head circumference of up to approx. 63 cm.
- Long inner distance (back of head - forehead): approx. 21 cm

- Short inner distance (ear-to-ear): approx. 19 cm

- Height (including neck): approx. 42 cm

- Weight: approx. 4.7 kg

The above specifications may vary slightly from copy to copy.

The steel used here is not stainless and may show slight signs of corrosion. We recommend taking care of the hulls periodically, for example with Ballistol, a universal oil ideal for preserving steel products.
