Very nice reconstruction of a late medieval pot helmet (also called bucket helmet or barrel helmet ), as it was worn in the 14th century.

The so-called great helmet was often worn over a smaller, lighter helmet (e.g., a brain cap). It was widespread throughout Central Europe in the Middle Ages, and numerous illustrations, miniatures, and contemporary finds from Germany, Flanders, England, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, etc., demonstrate the popularity of this type of helmet. These helmets appeared during the Crusades, in the late 12th and early 13th centuries, and were used by knights until the 14th century.

The replica offered here is made of 1.6 mm (16-gauge) carbon steel and features a cross-shaped brass appliqué on the front. The various parts of the knight's helmet are connected to each other by steel rivets. The viewing slots measure approximately 15 cm long and 1.3 cm wide, and the numerous slits in the lower half ensure the necessary air circulation.

The interior is blackened and features an adjustable, riveted leather insert. The chin strap, made of 2 mm thick brown leather, is fitted with a brass buckle (with an antique finish).
