Magnificent late Roman helmet from Berkasovo

Following the usual shape of the helmet of the late imperial period, the find from Berkasovo (today Serbia) is distinguished by its rich decoration with precious stones, as well as gold and silver applications. The numerous elements explain its high weight: more than 4 kg. . the rich decorations indicate that it was worn by the highest-ranking officer of the time.

Our helmet has a red leather sewn inlay and the trim is made of glass. The helmet is padded on both the cheek flaps and the neck guard.
