Discover Medieval Hood for Women, Different Colors.
Medieval hood for women, various colors
This hood is made from a lightweight cotton fabric. A hidden elastic band ensures a good fit and creates a pretty ruffle at the hem.
In the Middle Ages and early modern times, the bonnet was the head covering worn by married women, while unmarried women were allowed to leave their heads uncovered. This custom is the origin of the saying “getting under the bonnet.” Even today, hoods are an integral part of traditional European costumes.
In addition, the hood also had a practical use: to protect the hair from dirt, e.g. at home or when working.
