BMSB chain hood with square mouthguard

This chain hood completely covers the shoulder and has an authentic square cut. The hood also has a foldable, square mouthguard, to which leather straps are sewn on the sides. The mouthguard is lightly padded inside and lined with leather. This type of chain hood was especially popular in the High Middle Ages (for example, among Normans and Crusaders).

The bmsb chain link consists of unriveted round rings. The chain link hood is hand-woven in a 4-in-1 pattern. The surface of the rings is blackened (burnished) and therefore offers a certain degree of corrosion protection.
We call this type of braid bmsb (from English: b butted m ild s steel b blackened ).

We recommend wearing a waisted hood under the chain hood.
