Ulrich Shirt

The medieval Ulrich shirt, made by Burgschneider, is a simple collarless design. Instead, two ribbons are sewn into the neckline for tying. Since buttonhole buttons weren't invented until the 13th century in Germany, this shirt features sewn ribbons instead of a button placket. The sleeves extend straight to the wrist without cuffs, making it suitable for wearing under a gambeson, where cuffs and puffers can get in the way. This hardwearing, 100% heavy cotton, linen-look shirt is ideal for portraying a variety of characters, including servants, farmers, hunters, or even knights. It can easily be combined with a tunic or coat for different weather conditions or worn alone on warmer days—just remember to wear trousers.
