Chain mail, also called chausses , served as leg protection in the late Middle Ages. Plate armour was often worn over the leg, so that chain mail was only intended to protect the bare areas. Unlike relatively stiff plate armour, chain mail is much more flexible and adapts much better to the shape of the body.

ulfberth® chain warmers are delivered in pairs. They are now available in almost all types of braids. They can be attached individually, with wire, nests or leather cords and/or with leather straps. However, these are not included in the scope of delivery. Another attachment option is to sew them onto existing (leather) trousers.

The rrr chain mesh: This chain mesh is made up of completely round rings with round rivet heads. Each ring is riveted by hand. The braid is 4 in 1. We call this type of braid rrr (English = round ring ing r ring).
