Odin's Skull, Mead, 19% vol., 0.75l bottle - dansk mjød
Odin's skull by Danish mjød is based on the legend of suttungs mead, the first honey wine in Norse mythology.
According to legend, Odin, chief of all the Norse gods, stole mead from the giants. Made with honey and the blood of the wise man Kvasir, this mead is said to have granted those who drank it supernatural powers, including extraordinary poetic abilities.
Although Dansk Mjød mead cannot confer supernatural powers, it impresses with its incomparable taste of sour apple juice and a hint of cinnamon.
To make honey wines, Dansk Mjød relies on old, traditional recipes with the addition of juices and herbs. Another special feature of many Danish meads is that fermentation is halted by adding alcohol. This gives the honey wine an unusual strength, which is kept in check by the remaining sweetness, achieving a liqueur-like smoothness and balance.
