Gift Broken Back Sax, Viking Sax Knife, Carbon Steel

Broken back sax, Viking knife with carbon steel blade and wood/bone handle
This handmade Viking Sax (Seax) knife, also called the Broken Back Sax (Seax) due to its special blade shape, has a razor-sharp carbon steel blade and a wood and bone handle with a brass ferrule and cap. The cap has a handy eyelet for attaching a lanyard or for easily removing the knife from its sheath (a leather strap is included).
The short Sax (Seax) comes with a beautiful sheath made of vegetable-tanned, hand-dyed leather with richly decorated brass fittings. The carrying system consists of two rings, a belt distributor, and three leather straps. Carrying systems of this type were widespread in the Viking Age. The belt distributor was used to distribute the individual belts so that the Sax (Seax) sword or knife could be worn on the belt at an optimal angle for quick removal from the sheath.
This skramasax is designed as a collector's item or decorative object.
Details:
- Blade material: carbon steel, sharp edge
- Handle material: wood, animal bone, brass
- Total length: approx. 32cm

- Blade length: approx. 19 cm

- Weight: approx. 230 g (approx. 430 g with case)
- Leather and brass case with hanger

The above specifications may vary slightly from copy to copy.
The steel used here is not stainless and may show slight signs of corrosion. We recommend regular maintenance of the blade, for example with Ballistol, a universal oil ideal for preserving steel products.
Since bone and wood are natural products, variations in color and/or grain are quite normal. Therefore, no two handles of this Viking Sax (Seax) are alike, and the images above are for illustrative purposes only.
