... It is the last of the six known styles from the Viking Age, lasting until the early 12th century. Urnes replaced the Ringerike style in the mid-11th century. Filigree and intertwined animal depictions characterized the Urnes style. This style is named after a small Norwegian town on the Lustrafjord.
