“We must fight!” your officer shouts for all to hear. You adjust your Leather Brigandine, double-checking the buckles as you listen to him continue. “For our homes and our families, we will fight until we can fight no more!” With a resounding cheer, your fellow soldiers prepare for the charge. You draw back your weapon, anxious and scared at the same time.
The battle has begun.
DETAILS
The Epic Armoury Leather Brigandine is a leather armor reinforced with heavy leather plates designed to protect the entire torso, upper thighs, and groin. Crafted from full-grain leather and brass-coated rivets, this menacing vest is lightweight and durable. Secure this brigandine with five heavy leather straps and brass buckles at the front, which can be further tightened by cinching leather laces along the flanks between the armpit and mid-thigh.
The Leather Brigantine is fully compatible with other Epic Armory armor, and its distinctive yet low-fantasy style allows it to be used in-game and in-character. With proper leather care, you can expect this armor to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment for a long time!
Available in black and brown; and in sizes Small/Medium and Large/X-Large.
HISTORY
- Worn over a gambeson or mail by soldiers ranging from archers to knights
- It became widely used during the 15th century, but this particular style was most popular in the 16th century.

Maintenance
Natural leather products are very durable, but they require regular maintenance with leather care products to maintain suppleness and extend their lifespan. Make sure your leather products stay dry when stored. Let wet leather dry naturally before treating it. If it frequently gets wet and dries, increase the frequency of maintenance.
Cleaning
Clean by removing dirt with a stiff brush, then gently rub leather soap with a clean, damp cloth until the leather looks clean. Remove the soap with a separate damp cloth to clean any soap residue, and then use a dry cloth to wipe away any remaining water from the leather.
Conditioning
You should always condition leather after cleaning it, as the soap will have removed some of its natural oils. Treat the leather with mink oil, olive oil, or beeswax using a clean cloth, gently rubbing a small amount of oil or wax into the leather in circles. Allow the leather to soak in the oil before wiping it with a final clean cloth to remove excess residue.
