Bmsz galvanized chain braid with leather, unriveted id 8 mm

A helmet braid is a chain mail that was attached to a helmet in the Middle Ages as additional protection for the neck and shoulders. The preferred helmet types here were the nasal helmet, but especially the late medieval bascule helmet and its variant, the gugel dog.

This chain necklace has a genuine serrated braided edge and an attached strip of thick cowhide leather. The customer will need to attach the helmet attachment holes to these leather strips.

The bmsz chain mesh consists of round, unriveted rings. The surface of the rings is galvanised and thus offers good protection against corrosion. We call this type of braid bmsz (= mild steel with galvanised thickness). The chain braid is hand-braided 4 in 1.
