As a mythical animal, the dragon has inspired people's imaginations for centuries. In Asian folk belief, it is regarded as a benevolent creature, an ally of man in a hostile world, or a symbol of imperial power, particularly in China, where dragon motifs adorn the walls and armorials of palaces. In Western cultures, however, it was feared as a wild and hostile creature, a fire-breathing beast that left a trail of destruction in its wake and laid waste to entire villages. If a brave knight actually managed to slay an angry dragon, he could return home confident that he had already won the hand of the enchantingly beautiful maiden whom he had rescued from the beast's clutches.



Either way, regardless of its reputation, the dragon is a powerful creature that possesses extraordinary and consistently formidable physical attributes. It was precisely these attributes that inspired Cold Steel® to use the dragon as a motif for this walking stick. The model was an elaborately carved antique dragon stick from the private collection of Lynn C. Thompson, President of Cold Steel®. This walking stick has been meticulously recreated using high-quality, hand-etched injection molds. The abundance of detail is astonishing, such as the scale pattern that runs the entire length of the serpent-like shaft or the fearsome uncovered snout.
