Lynn C. Thompson has developed a very special fascination with the simple functionality displayed by forged knives. Their one-piece construction, made from a solid piece of steel, sets new standards in terms of stability and durability. The monolithic (= one-piece ) knives from Cold Steels® in the Monolithic Axe and Tool® series are not cheap castings, but are made from 52100 carbon steel by drop-forging. For each model in the series, the solid steel body is expertly heat-treated from the sharp blade tip to the end of the powerful handle. For a comfortable and secure grip, each knife is ergonomically shaped and features a deep recess in the handle section. Since these knives can be easily modified or customized, they are also perfect as "project knives." If desired, the handles can be retrofitted, filed, engraved, or otherwise modified to create an individual design.

Developing a double-edged knife that meets Cold Steel® standards in terms of strength and durability is a real challenge. But the drop-forged Wasp exceeded all expectations because there's nothing to break, loosen, or wear down. Thanks to the monolithic (one-piece) construction, the blade, hand guard, and tang form an inseparable whole. The knife has only been complemented by removable handle scales, which can be quickly and easily replaced if, against all odds, they ever break or show signs of wear. The perfectly balanced blade with a stable yet extremely sharp tip is shaped like a wasp's waist (hence the name) and can therefore cut both when thrusting and withdrawing. The terrifyingly effective Cold Steel® Wasp, which comes complete with an excellent Secure-Ex® sheath, is nothing short of bombproof! And with proper care, it will last a lifetime.

Carbon steel 52100

52100 carbon steel is a durable steel ideal for fixed hunting knives and other outdoor fixed blades. Knife makers often choose it to forge tough, low-wear blades that must withstand harsh conditions.
