Asgard Sagas Vol. 1 - Bragi's Long Homecoming
Author: voenix
At the beginning, we learn how the father of the gods, Odin, sets out to reclaim the god's power. He drinks the mead Odrörir, stolen by giants, which grants its owner the power of ecstatic speech. During this adventure, he fathered a son named Bragi, who was considered the first divinely gifted skald (bard) and thus became part of Norse legend and myth. He was later elevated to the status of a poet god, whom Odin is said to have appointed as his first spokesman.
Plot: Raised underground by dwarves, Bragi is abandoned on a boat by his mother as a child to find happiness in the world. Stranded after a storm, he is found by an old man who introduces Bragi to the essence of Norse skaldism. Little by little, Bragi hones his skills and eventually becomes a celebrated singer, capable of achieving true miracles with his playing. But before his father takes him to Asgard, Bragi still has many trials and adventures to experience.
