DETAILS
This best-selling armor set includes a Gothic half armor, gorget, and armor from Epic Armoury. Shoulder, arm, and leg protection fully meets your costume needs at a lower cost. Each piece is crafted from mild steel with rolled edges and premium leather straps and fittings, designed to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment while keeping the wearer safe and comfortable. With regular care of the leather and metal armor, you can expect this armor set to last a long time!
Available in medium/large size.
Half armor
Armor made for the upper echelon of the battlefield. This armor features front and back plates, sashes, and tassets. The breastplate of Epic Armoury's semi-Gothic armor has a center crease and ridges around the edge. The armor fits snugly around the arms and throat to minimize the number of weak points. The matching breast and back plates extend below the abdomen and connect with the tassets under the protection of the sashes: a series of overlapping, patterned metal plates that protect the weak points of the pelvis.
Gorget & Shoulders
This fully articulated armor is designed to provide protection for the throat, neck, and shoulders while minimizing the exposure of weak points. The armor is a four-piece set: a two-piece gorget and two pauldrons. The gorget covers from the chest to the sternum and is provided with several ridges and two large octagonal besagues (round metal shields) to protect the armpits, notoriously visible under armor, from arrow attacks. The two parts are joined with straps of premium vegetable-tanned leather. The gorget also includes shoulder fasteners. The shoulders are composed of articulated pauldrons covering the shoulder joint and upper arms, reinforced with large pauldrons sculpted to resemble dragon wings to further protect the armpits. The pauldrons are secured with straps on the gorget and around the upper arms.
Arm protection
Gothic Arm Protection is a set of steel elbow pads, or couters, designed to protect the elbow joints. The pads are rounded and have reinforcing ridges and decorative steel rivets. Around the edge of each cup, a large V-shaped flange deflects blows away from the elbows. A half-bolster protects the upper arm, while a cuff protects the forearm below the buttresses. Premium leather straps are used to close the bracers, and a third leather strap around the elbow holds the piece in place.
Leg protection
Gothic leg armor consists of breastplates to protect the lower thighs, articulated poleyns covering the knees, and half-greaves protecting the upper shins and the sides of the calves. The poleyn knee guards are articulated, composed of four overlapping plates and equipped with a raised, heart-shaped plate covering the notoriously unprotected hamstring. This piece of armor is supported by straps attached to the wearer's belt and held in place by guide straps around the thighs and calves.

Maintenance
Epic Armory Metal Works products should be treated with a quality wax or wax, acid-free vegetable oil, and stored in a dry place. Metal armor containing leather components requires separate leather care. Read the "Leather Belts and Accessories" section below for information on cleaning and maintaining leather with leather care products.
Degrease and prepare your armor for use
When you open your armor, you may be overwhelmed by the smell of grease and oil. The oil has been applied to protect your armor during storage and transport. Use a degreasing product or mineral spirits and a dry cloth or paper towels to remove all the oil from the plate armor pieces. It's a little more difficult to remove all the oil from chain mail links, but it can be done the same way. Wipe off as much as you can with a dry cloth, and with the remaining oil, you can degrease the chain mail with mineral spirits or another solvent by spraying it on the links. You can also choose to completely submerge your chain mail in a degreasing product and use your hands to agitate the metal in the solution; this will completely remove all the oil and grease from your links. After removing the oil, be sure to dry the armor thoroughly. Bright, warm sunlight is excellent for drying your armor, but you can also use a hair dryer or heat gun to speed up the process. Be careful not to overheat any piece of leather when using a heat gun.
Cleaning
Moisture is the enemy of armor and chain mail. If your armor gets wet, it's important to dry it thoroughly as soon as possible. After handling, use, or after six months of storage or display, all metal should be wiped with a clean cloth. Lightly oil the cleaned surface with a quality, acid-free vegetable oil. Alternatively, you can apply a coat of wax to the entire surface of the exposed metal. Let the wax dry for a couple of hours, then lightly buff it with a soft cloth.
Prevention and elimination of rust
Store your armor in a dry place and check it every two months for signs of rust. If you find any, remove it by gently rubbing the affected area with a mildly abrasive pad moistened with wax or quality acid-free vegetable oil. Epic Dark products are specially treated to resist rust, but should still be treated with oil and stored in a dry place.
Leather belts and accessories
Clean them by removing dirt with a stiff brush, then gently scrub with leather soap and a clean, damp cloth until the leather appears clean. Remove the soap with a separate damp cloth to clean any soap residue, and then use a dry cloth to wipe away any remaining water from the leather.
You should always condition leather after cleaning it, as the soap will have removed some of its natural oils. Treat the leather with mink oil, olive oil, or beeswax using a clean cloth, gently rubbing a small amount of oil or wax into the leather in circles. Allow the leather to soak in the oil before wiping it with a final clean cloth to remove excess residue.
