Churburg Knight Armor
This is a highly decorative reconstruction of a late medieval knight's armour from Churburg Castle in South Tyrol. It is made of solid sheet steel in a very elaborate manner. All parts are movable, making the armour wearable.
In the Middle Ages, plate armour was always made to measure. We offer a standard size for a man of average height and a height of 1.75 cm to approx. 1.80 cm. The adjustable straps with buckles are riveted on almost all relevant parts. A certain size adjustment is therefore possible. In particular, the breastplate offers a much better size adjustment than other models thanks to its folding mechanism. However, we would like to point out that one should not expect a 100% fit with armour like this.
The armor consists of the following components:
- Helmet, the so-called hundsgugel, a variation of the saucer-hood helmet with folding visor with chain visor and padded hood
- Two elaborate leg pieces, consisting of shoulder protection, upper and forearm tubes, and elbow pads
- A pair of highly mobile hentzen gauntlets with brass applications
- The typical folding cuirass of Churburg
- Two complete leg parts, with upper diechlings, knee pads, leg tubes and armored shoes (also called sabaton, iron shoe or soleret)
Details:
- Material: approx. 1.2 mm steel, cowhide strap
- Total weight: approx. 23.7 kg
- Inner helmet circumference: approx. 65 cm
