Get Aquila - Standard Eagle of the Roman Legion with Pole
Aquila - Roman legion eagle banner with wooden pole
The aquila (Latin for eagle) was the highest-ranking standard of the Roman legions and enjoyed the greatest reverence. Losing this standard, which was also known as the legion eagle , was considered a great shame and embarrassment. However, the reconquest of the lost aquilae was celebrated as a major victory.
The eagle is the messenger of the Roman god Jupiter. The Aquila is often referred to as the soul of the legion . It shows the way forward, whether on the march or in battle.
This authentic replica of a Roman aquila features a large, imposing eagle made of solid brass. The eagle is crafted in great detail, so that even the structure of the feathers can be seen. It alone weighs over 4.4 kg. A must-have for a historically correct representation of legionaries. The standard also has a two-piece wooden shaft with two handles. Assembly must be done by the customer.
