Acquire Aquila - Standard Eagle of the Roman Legion with Pole
Aquila - eagle standard of the Roman legion with wooden pole
The aquila (Latin for eagle) was the highest-ranking standard of the Roman legions and enjoyed the greatest reverence. Losing this standard, which was also known as the legion eagle , was considered a great shame and disgrace. However, the reconquest of the lost aquilae was celebrated as a major victory.
The eagle is the messenger of the Roman god Jupiter. The aquila is often referred to as the soul of the legion . It shows the way forward, whether on the march or in battle.
This authentic replica of a Roman aquila features a large and imposing eagle made of solid brass. The eagle is designed with great detail, so that even the structure of the feathers can be seen. It alone weighs over 4.4 kg. A must-have for a historically accurate depiction of legionaries. The standard also has a two-piece wooden shaft with two handles. Assembly must be done by the customer.
