Loose Rings - High Tensile Strength Mild Steel Wire, Tapered, 9mm - 1kg Pack

MEASURES:

  • Inner diameter: 9 mm
  • Wire thickness: 16 gauge (~1.6 mm)

Enhance your historical craftsmanship with this 1kg set of mild steel chainmail rings. Meticulously crafted from high-tensile wire, these rings are designed to offer greater durability and resistance to deformation compared to softer conventional mild steel.

Historical importance:

Chainmail rings were commonly used in the Late Middle Ages, especially for lighter and cheaper armor, or in regions where riveted chainmail was less common. Chainmail was widely used for costumes, parade armor, and padded gambesons, as well as to reinforce vulnerable sections of clothing.

Authentic Craftsmanship: These 9mm rings are faithful to the classic dimensions of European chainmail, offering a perfect balance of weight and flexibility. The natural steel finish enhances the historical look, complementing your gear or museum-quality reproductions.

USE:

  • Construction of complete chainmail shirts, caps, aventails and chausses
  • Repair of damaged sections of existing chainmail armor
  • Creation of pieces for historical recreations
  • Experiment with different knitting patterns (4 in 1, 6 in 1, etc.)
  • Costume upgrades for LARP and movies

INSTALLATION TIPS:

  • Use two pairs of pliers to safely open and close the rings.
  • For maximum strength, make sure each closure overlaps slightly.
  • We recommend that you practice your technique on a small test patch before beginning full-scale assembly.
  • Periodically check the consistency of the pattern tension.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Store in a dry place to prevent rust.
  • If rust appears on the surface, lightly coat the rings with oil or wax.
  • Handle with clean hands or gloves to avoid moisture transfer.
  • Avoid prolonged contact with acidic or moist materials⭐
