Enjoy Swiss Halberd - Man-at-arms Series

Swiss halberd cold steel® man at arms (maa)

The medieval man at arms was a brave and loyal fighter full of martial heroism who mastered a variety of weapons with great skill. He was a veteran of countless battles and was often the first to charge into battle. In honor of these tough and dedicated wandering soldiers, Cold Steel® has created the Man at Arms weapon collection. Compared to premium Cold Steel® versions, these combat-ready weapons lack the usual silver-polished steel elements, but the MAA series products come close to matching the others in quality and performance. And when properly oiled, they reveal their inherent, radiant beauty. The Man at Arms collection offers a selection of some of the finest Cold Steel® products, but at a significantly lower price. If you've always wanted a Cold Steel® blade but could never afford it, this collection was made for you.

Switzerland has a reputation as a nation of marksmen. This is mainly because men subject to military service are legally required to keep their personal service weapons at home and may retain them after their service is over, with appropriate permission. However, this is a relatively new development. For three hundred years, beginning in the 12th century, the Swiss were greatly feared for the terrible devastation they could cause on the battlefield with their infamous halberds: the helmbeard effectively combined the best features of the spear, battle-axe, and hook into one devastating weapon. It could penetrate the strongest steel armor and shatter a tough helmet or shield. The "beak" of the stem beard could also be used to tear a heavily armored knight from his horse so that his brothers-in-arms could hunt him down.

The Swiss Cold Steel® halberd offered here is nearly identical to its durable historical counterpart, but is crafted from modern materials. The butt end, axe blade, and pick (rending hook) are all ground to a razor-sharp edge. This multifaceted weapon can quickly dispatch even a heavily armed and armored opponent.
