Treat yourself to a Halberd, Marto
Halberd, hammer
A halberd is a polearm, a very long and powerful spear that was once widely used by infantry. Unlike many similar weapons, the halberd is not designed to be thrown. It was used regularly in European warfare from the early Middle Ages until about 1700. The halberd was widely used by Landsknecht armies and Swiss mercenaries, who used it as their primary weapon. Generally, a spear becomes a halberd when it is so long that it cannot be wielded with one hand in combat. Pikemen were required to be equipped with a shorter weapon, such as a sword, mace, or dagger, so that they could defend themselves if the fight turned to hand-to-hand combat. The pikeman often had no shield or only a small shield that had limited use in hand-to-hand combat. The halberd was a long weapon. It had a wooden shaft to which an iron or steel spearhead was fixed. The extreme length of such weapons required strong wood.
