Down with the Red Rock Raptor Knives
When the Outback™ was released, it was perhaps the most powerful bowie knife you could buy without going to a blacksmith. Down Under Knives was quite pleased with its ability to pack so much cutting power into a conventionally sized blade, but of course, it was only a matter of time before someone surpassed it. This got them thinking: if it was possible without being completely impractical, why didn't they implement it already?
After several months of design and prototyping, Down Under Knives has done just that. The Red Rock Raptor™ design borrows elements from the legendary kukri to provide the speed and power needed to slice through just about anything you have to put it through. The angle and width of the point ensure an optimal piercing point, while the smooth convex/concave transition of the edge offers the durability of an axe and the sharpness and control of a carving knife—both right where you need them without interfering with each other.
You probably also know that with some otherwise great bowies, kukris, and machetes, you have to hold back a bit so they don't slip out of your hand. Yeah, they don't like that either. That's why the Down Under Knives Red Rock Raptor™ has an ergonomic 100% leather handle and generous hand guards at both ends. You can hammer with the pommel, stab with the point, carve with the base of the blade, and chop with the convex edge. The wide, gently rounded handguards protect your fingers from impact and ensure the knife fits firmly in your hand, whatever you're doing. Don't let the aggressive look fool you; this knife was built to perform as well as it looks. Down Under Knives believes that in successful design, form and function shouldn't compete, but rather complement each other.
