3-Barrel Swivel Gun – France, 18th Century

The triple roar of gunpowder in the days of honor and mourning

In a Europe troubled by wars, revolutions, and dueling codes, ingenious defensive weapons emerged that combined art, metallurgy, and necessity. Among them, this 3-Barrel Revolving Flintlock Pistol , born in 18th-century France, stands out. It was designed to offer three chances in a world where sometimes one wasn't enough.

The Thunder of Three Mouths

This historical reproduction, made of real metal with wood-effect plastic grips , features a sturdy body with a simulated loading and firing mechanism , ideal for reenactment, props, or display. The three rotating barrels evoke the skill of a gunsmith who, anticipating the limitations of the era, multiplied the firing range in a single weapon.

Flintlock pistols used a flint stone that, when struck by the hammer, generated the spark needed to ignite the gunpowder. Their operation, although rudimentary compared to modern weapons, was a technical achievement for its time. Each shot required a slow and meticulous reload through the muzzle, which is why these weapons were typically used only once before resorting to the sword or using the weapon as a club.

A Weapon with History

Used as a tool of self-defense until the mid-19th century, these pistols accompanied officers, nobles, and adventurers on their journeys, duels, and unexpected encounters. Their short range and vulnerability to moisture were part of the risk... and also the honor of wielding them.
