German Flintlock Pistol, 18th Century – The Thunder of Old Europe
Historical reproduction in wood and nickel
On the dark roads of the 18th century, where honor duels and self-defense were resolved in the blink of an eye, the flintlock pistol was the silent companion of travelers, officers, and gentlemen. This impressive replica , crafted from wood and metal , pays homage to the elegant firearms of the 18th-century German army and has been manufactured in Spain with great historical accuracy .
The Art of Spark and Steel
Equipped with the classic flintlock mechanism , this pistol used a flint attached to the hammer, which, when it fell on the steel piece, produced a spark that ignited the gunpowder in the flask. As was usual with these weapons, the shot had to be followed by a slow manual reload , introducing gunpowder, wad, and projectile through the muzzle, and securing the contents with paper or burlap.
Because of this process, their use in combat was limited to a single shot ; afterward, the wielder had to resort to a sword or use a pistol as an improvised mace. They were short-range weapons, but highly effective in ambushes, cavalry attacks, or individual combat.
This non-functional replica features a detailed wood and metal body, accurately recreating the aesthetics and balance of an authentic 18th-century pistol. Its 43 cm length makes it a striking piece for collectors, historical reenactors, and themed decorators .
